We are an active American Kennel Club member, sponsoring two AKC licensed dog shows each year. GHKC sponsors educational seminars, open to the public, to advance responsible dog ownership, canine health, and information on quality dog breeding programs. The club also refers specific breed inquiries to reputable dog breeders in the area.
The Greater Hickory Kennel Club was organized in 1975. It was founded by dog fanciers to promote the sport of showing purebred dogs. To further the advancement of all breeds of purebred dogs; and to protect and promote the sport of dog shows and encourage good sportsmanship like competition at such events.
